Sessions: Learning Lab (Day 1 Afternoon)
Jelena Hasbrouck is a senior creative strategist, speaker and facilitator, and communications consultant who works with individuals and organizations to develop impactful messaging and strategic advocacy campaigns, with a focus on challenging the dominant paradigms of white supremacy and patriarchy. She has 15 years of experience working on education and social justice projects, helping teams and clients think differently, deeply, and deliberately about the impact of their communications work. Jelena has a knack for using both traditional and digital media approaches, leveraging cognitive science to develop and implement campaigns that not only reach target audiences and decisionmakers, but inspire and motivate them to act. She served as Director of Communications for The Education Trust-West, where she led goal-driven campaign planning efforts in the K-12 and higher education policy spheres and developed an updated, visually impactful brand identity for the organization. Jelena is a public speaker and presents on a wide range of topics, including maximizing campaign impact online and visually, demystifying data storytelling, and how communications strategies can be used to disrupt systems of injustice.
