​A five-time USAID Mission Director (Pakistan, India, Cambodia, Mongolia and Central Asia), Jonathan Addleton also served as USAID Representative to the European Union in Brussels, US Senior Civilian Representative for Southern Afghanistan in Kandahar and US Ambassador to Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar. He has written several books including two memoirs, Some Far and Distant Place (University of Georgia Press), an account of his childhood in Pakistan; and The Dust of Kandahar (Naval Institute Press), covering the twelve months he spent in Afghanistan. He currently serves as Rector/President of Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) in Lahore, one of the oldest and most distinguished institutions of higher learning in Pakistan.
