Our Final Round of judging will take place during the Annual Conference on May 26 and 27. In addition to our judges' vote, conference attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite innovation. Winners will be announced during our Closing Plenary on May 27.
The 2021 SID-Washington Innovation Contest
For our 2021 Annual Conference, SID-Washington will once again hold a competition to highlight some of our communities’ most creative and compelling innovative work. We welcome our institutional member organizations to pitch their innovative products and/or services that provide better access to information, increase engagement, improve decision making, or enhance development in some other way.
The competition will take place in two rounds. For Round 1, institutional members submit pitch decks explaining their innovations. A panel of judges will then select finalists to be featured in our Innovation Showcase at our 2021 Annual Conference on May 26th– 27th .
Round 2 will take place during the Conference. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for a "Best in Show” among the showcase participants, while at the same time our secret judges will select a winner and a runner-up. Winners will be announced at the end of the Conference. All finalists’ pitches will be featured on the SID-Washington website.
Guidelines
Round 1 Requirements (Application Deadline Extended to Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 11:59 PM EST)
Teams must submit the following deliverables to enter the competition:
Pitch Deck (Max: 8 Slides):
A panel of judges will select the finalists, who will advance to the Conference Showcase. All entrants will be notified of the decisions by Friday, May 14, 2021.
Final Round Requirements (Showcase at the Annual Conference on Thursday, May 27, 2021)
The final round will include an Innovation Showcase, where finalists will be provided a table at the Annual Conference to display their product or service. In the Showcase, the finalists will pitch or demo their innovations. Each team should be prepared to field questions from Conference attendees and judges. The winners will be announced at the start of the Conference’s afternoon plenary/closing plenary.
All Conference attendees will have access to the Innovation Showcase, which also serves as a valuable networking and business development opportunity for the finalists. Select finalists may also be asked to participate in a Conference panel on innovation.
How to Participate
Please send your team's pitch deck, a link to its video (YouTube), and a short 100 word description to [email protected], no later than Wednesday, April 28 at 11:59 PM (EST) to be considered. Note that the judges will place a higher emphasis on the presentation, than on the video.

- There is no limit on the number of teams per institutional member (IM) that can submit entries. However, only the highest ranked team per IM will advance to the Showcase, pending final competition submissions.
- Submissions sent after the new deadline of Wednesday, April 28 at 11:59 PM (EST) will not be considered.
- All team members must be current employees of IMs.
