About the SID-US Conference
The SID-US (formerly SID-Washington) Annual Conference has been a Washington, DC tradition for development professionals for over 25 years. After the success of last year’s fully hybrid Conference, we are excited to once again provide both a virtual and in-person experience for an international community of attendees at our Annual Conference on Wednesday, May 24.
This year’s Conference theme is Power Shift: Defining the Next Decade of Development, sparking the conversation on the existing dynamics within the sector and moving the influence, including power, resources, voice, and agency, to a larger and more diverse set of key players. The 2023 Conference seeks to examine the shifts across the field that are shaping the next decade and beyond. Our programming will include sessions on health, climate change, refugees and migration, food insecurity, DEI, youth engagement, localization, and more. We'll have keynotes, fireside chats, panels and workshops to continue the conversation on cross-cutting, intersectional issues that practitioners in international development face today.
The in-person component will be similar to our past Conferences with an Exhibit Hall, plenary sessions, breakouts, and an end-of-day reception, while the virtual component will feature a similar schedule in an online format. There will be virtual networking opportunities, a virtual Exhibit Hall, and our plenaries will be streamed on the online platform. We will have a virtual production and support team on-site at the Ronald Reagan Building to seamlessly merge the in-person and virtual experiences, and all in-person attendees can tune in virtually at any point in the day. This Annual Conference will be our first as SID-United States, and we are keeping accessibility at the forefront of our planning to welcome our expanded community.
Last year’s Conference gathered over 1,400 international development professionals from across the world online and in-person, and we’re excited to continue the conversation, connect, share, and learn from each other on May 24.
