This panel will consider state of the art efforts to advance diversity, equity and inclusion around the world.

Our growing awareness of racial inequities at the individual and systemic levels has highlighted the need for change. Many organizations and individuals on the journey to improving diversity, equity, and inclusion outcomes are now asking how to affect this change. How can they attract diverse talent when they lack diversity in their personal lives or organizations? In this interactive break-out, we will identify resources and strategies to increase representation and engagement, even if you lack diverse talent in your network.

From Health Crisis to Food Crisis: Minimizing the Impact of COVID-19 on Food Security

"If we don’t prepare and act now – to secure access, avoid funding shortfalls and disruptions to trade – we could be facing multiple famines of biblical proportions,” according to David Beasley, Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has posed numerous challenges to those working in food security towards the goal of zero hunger. In fact, the effects of the pandemic on food security will persist long past the pandemic itself, compounded by job losses and economic slow down, limiting food access for years to come.  In addition, more frequent droughts and other effects of climate change continue to affect production. How can we ensure equal access to sufficient food and nutrition for all when food supply chains are disrupted due to unprecedented quarantine orders, border closures, and other factors? What has been done so far to try to prevent multiple famines? And what innovative solutions are in the works to address this massive and urgent problem?
